In a twist on the adage, “Go big or go home,” inferno went big for the FedExFamilyHouse Gala to give families a home away from home when their child is staying at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Free accommodations and support services from FedExFamilyHouse allow out-of-town families to fully focus on their child’s needs during treatment.
This is the fourth year that inferno and FedExFamilyHouse have teamed up to create a gala experience that make event-goers open their hearts and wallets. One of the goals for the event was to help fund the hotel’s expansion to serve 51 more guest families.
To emphasize the need for expansion, we produced a fundraising video featuring the Monistere family in New Orleans. Their son, Christopher, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and his option for survival was the neurosurgical team at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. During their first trip to Memphis, the Monistere family lived in Christopher’s hospital room because FedExFamilyHouse was full.
Although we filmed previous gala videos in Memphis, we traveled to New Orleans for this particular one. The crew enjoyed two days with the family, including watching Christopher make his signature jambalaya. Our video team also captured the Monisteres’ powerful plea to supporters to expand FedExFamilyHouse.
The weekend of the gala, the Monistere family traveled to Memphis and stayed in the FedExFamilyHouse for the first time. Christopher was able to meet his hometown hero, Drew Brees, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints and FedExFamilyHouse Gala celebrity speaker.
The emotionally powerful Monistere video helped raise more than $1 million. In even more exciting news, Christopher and his family recently learned that the brain tumor he had been so bravely fighting is no longer present.
Our role in the event also included creating the save-the-date card and invitation. This year, we scaled back the classic navy and gold theme to emphasize the red heart which symbolizes the hospital and FedExFamilyHouse.
