Four Deserving Memphians Receive a Veteran’s Day gift

In honor of Veteran’s Day, our friends at United Housing, Inc. (UHI) held a Veteran Home Giveaway, and it was our job to get the word out. We informed print and broadcast media and encouraged them to cover the heartwarming event that would result in four Shelby County veterans becoming first-time homeowners. We also provided on-site photography support for post-giveaway social media posts.

Through its Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Shelby County provided funding to UHI and the Orange Mound Development Corporation (OMDC), so they could renovate homes in Frayser, TN. Four of those houses remained, and UHI and OMDC decided they should be donated to eligible individuals who have served our country.

Looking through the event photos, you can see the impact the event had on the recipients. The smiles on the faces of the veterans and their families make us proud to work with organizations like UHI that do such important work in our community. UHI’s mission is to support sustainable home ownership throughout West Tennessee by providing homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention, affordable lending products, and construction services. You can learn more about the services they provide at www.uhinc.org.

Want to support this local nonprofit? Join UHI for its 21st birthday party at High Cotton Brewing Co. this Thursday, November 19. The event is free to the public and all beer proceeds benefit UHI. Check their Facebook event for details.
