3 Tips from a PR intern

This summer, I had the pleasure of serving as an intern in the public relations department of inferno. With the help of the four ladies who make up the PR team, I was able to discover what it takes to be a successful communications professional.

Though there are many things I learned during my time at inferno, below are the top three takeaways.

Learn to adapt

A typical day in the PR department can involve working with multiple clients on various projects. Research plays a large role in becoming an extension of a client’s business. Doing all that you can to learn about the company and their industry is essential. All of this taught me the importance of time management.

Because of the fast-paced nature of our work, I’ve learned that it’s crucial to keep your team up-to-date on any issues you’ve encountered or progress you’ve made to ensure deadlines are met.

Love where you work

If you spend a few minutes in the inferno office, you will likely never want to work anywhere else. It has one of the most exciting and collaborative cultures in a workplace that I have ever experienced. People at inferno are passionate and serious about the work they do, but they also know how to let loose and have a good time.

Be open-minded

The most important part of an internship is to come in with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Keep your eyes and ears open for new ideas, inspiration and a few lessons that willhelp guide you in your future profession.
