FedEx St. Jude Classic Street Team Case Study

The FedEx St. Jude Classic, one of the most tenured, continuously running events on the PGA Tour and a signature Memphis event for the last 54 years, strived to strengthen its brand strategy and supporting marketing efforts.

Tournament coordinators wanted to excite the existing base of sponsors, patrons and volunteers, while at the same time creating broader awareness and appeal among a more diverse, younger demographic. inferno developed a street team, known as the Birdie Brigade, to help promote the FESJC’s party atmosphere at various events around Memphis in the three months leading up to the tournament in June.

Birdie Brigade members wore branded caddy bibs and handed out promotional items like beads, koozies and sunglasses to event attendees and the general public. Additionally, local radio talent Gary Parrish served as the official Birdie Brigade Party Ambassador and appeared at several events with the street team. To help drive additional awareness and generate buzz, inferno scheduled a series of pop-up style events featuring the FESJC golfer, along with his caddy and standard bearer.

The Birdie Brigade also promoted Birdies for St. Jude, which allowed people to guess how many birdies would be made during the tournament, for a chance to win a new 2013 Ford Explorer. We also utilized the FESJC’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to promote all Birdie Brigade and golf talent appearances. inferno tracked and monitored all discussions online through the use of hashtags, including #BirdieBrigade, #FESJC and #ComePlay2013.

Caesars Tunica Taste & Tell event

After a $10 million renovation that included rebranding Jack Binion’s Steak, Horseshoe Tunica wanted the restaurant’s grand opening to go off without a hitch.

Our PR team created and distributed invitations, collected RSVPs, directed attendees to the appropriate area, and coordinated interviews with key executives. We also captured the excitement of the event through a series of on-site photos.

To generate positive buzz in advance of the restaurant’s opening, inferno organized a private Taste & Tell. The exclusive, invitation-only event attracted more than 25 influential food bloggers, writers, and critics.

The team tracked online conversations around the event using the hashtags #JackBinionsSteak, #HorseshoeVIP and #HorseshoeRocks.
